What is Ortho Tri-Cyclen?

Important information

You may need to use backup birth control, such as condoms or spermicide, when you first start using Ortho Tri-Cyclen or if you miss doses. Follow your doctor’s instructions. The absence of a pill increases the risk of getting pregnant. Carefully follow the instructions of the “missed doses” if you forgot to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Some medications may make Ortho Tri-Cyclen less effective in preventing pregnancy, including antibiotics, hepatitis C medications, HIV/AIDS medications, withdrawal medications, or barbiturate sedatives. Taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen may increase the risk of blood clots, stroke or heart attack. You are even more at risk if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or are overweight.
