What is Trimox?

Trimox (amoxicillin) is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria.

Trimox is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin or urinary tract.

Important information

Do not use Trimox if you are allergic to amoxicillin or to any other penicillin antibiotic, such as Ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), dicloxacillin (Dycill, Dynapen), Oxacillin (Bactocill), Penicillin (Beepen-VK, Ledercillin VK, Pen-V, Pen-Vee K, Pfizerpen, V-Cillin K, Veetids) and others.

Before using Trimox, tell your doctor if you are allergic to cephalosporins such as Ceclor, Ceftin, Duricef, Keflex and others. Also tell your doctor if you have asthma, liver or kidney disease, bleeding or blood clotting disorder, mononucleosis (also called “mono”), or any type of allergy.

Trimox can make birth control pills less effective, which can lead to pregnancy. Before taking amoxicillin, tell your doctor if you are using birth control pills.

Take Trimox for the entire time specified by your doctor. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is fully treated.

Trimox won’t treat a viral infection like this??like a cold or flu. Do not give Trimox to another person, even if they have the same symptoms.

Before taking this medicine

asthma;

Liver or kidney diseases;

Mononucleosis (also called “mono”);

A history of diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics; or

Food or drug allergies (especially for cephalosporin antibiotics such as Omnicef, Cefzil, Ceftin, Keflex, etc.).

If you are being treated for gonorrhea, your doctor may also take a test for syphilis, another sexually transmitted disease.

Trimox is not expected to harm the unborn child. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant during treatment.

Trimox can make birth control pills less effective. Ask your doctor about using hormonal birth control (condom, diaphragm with spermicide) to prevent pregnancy when taking trimox.

Amoxicillin can enter breast milk and can harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
